Hello, my name is Iman Sharifi. I am a dog breeder and trainer. My love and passion for the German Shepherd breed started 30 years ago when I first watched the TV series "Run Joe, Run." I was fascinated with GSD's loyalty, trainability and intelligence.

Over the last ten years, I have been dog training and breeding and learning about Working line GSD. I have studied different bloodlines and training techniques, and my training focus is a reward-based training system. 

In the year 2020, with the support of my friends Dr. Zbynek Divis (Aritar Bastet) and Hans-Peter Christ (Ketscher Wald), who are among some of the most influential working line GSD breeders in the world, I established Varkena kennel in Canada. 

The name Varkena means wolf, which is rooted in the ancient Persian language. In my kennel, I only breed working-line German Shepherd dogs.

My breeding mission is summarised into health and working abilities. I strive for sound temperament and genetic versatility; at the same time, I value intelligence and loyalty and endeavour to preserve the natural instincts of German shepherd dogs in my breeding plans.

Our German Shepherd puppies are CKC registered, vaccinated and microchipped, with 4 generation pedigree.
